Forestry Managment

Project Aim

This project trained Palestinian and Israeli foresters in methods of environmentally friendly forestry care and promoted cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis who share a common environment.

How It Works

The project consisted of a series of four joint Palestinian-Israeli workshops, which began in July 2010 and ended in July 2011. The workshops consisted of lectures familiarizing participants with the Israeli and Palestinian firefighting systems, as well as lectures on the best practice procedures, manpower training, and equipment required to combat a fire. Participants attended a hands-on tour on the principles of buffer zones around communities, as well as lectures on aerial assistance and on large-scale firefighting procedures. In addition, one day of the workshop series was dedicated to demonstration of practical firefighting. This program was established in cooperation with the Civil Administration, JNF-KKL and MASHAV-Center for International Cooperation.
