Internet Peace Ambassadors

Project Aim

This project encouraged Israeli Jewish high school students that were keen computer users, and who enjoyed online communication programs such as Skype, Messenger and the like, to contributing some of their free time towards a new social activity – chatting online to young Arab students from around the Arab world, serving as "Peace Ambassadors", setting an example of peaceful relations and promoting Israeli youth as friendly and open-minded.

How It Works

The project entailed weekly workshops in which participants chatted online, commenting on the emotional, political and intellectual aspects of their interactions with Arab youth. Workshops addressed smart and safe usage of the Internet and academic lectures concerning the Israeli-Arab conflict. Through the project, youth were able to learn about each other’s countries and realize that they share very similar interests and aspirations.
