Peace Computer Centers

Project Aim

This project connects Palestinian and Israeli youth utilizing the technological tools of computers, internet, and social networks. In this neutral and ‘safe’ environment, Israeli and Palestinian youth get to know each other, gradually breaking down stereotypes, repairing misconceptions and emotional barriers. Youth go through a process of humanization - seeing their counterparts for the first time as human beings and not the "enemy".

How It Works

This process is facilitated by an innovative, virtual curriculum developed specifically for this program, implemented across classrooms in the West Bank and Israel. This unique program of supervised virtual communication allows participants to meet youth from the "other side", in most cases for the first time. After getting to know each other online throughout the school year, youth meet their counterparts face-to-face in moderated encounters, taking their friendships to a different level and further strengthening the mutual understanding and connections formed. This project is supported by ENI.
