Selected Activities in 2003

  • The Peres Center for Peace, in cooperation with the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, held a training course in Jericho from May through June for 20 Palestinian professionals on the subject of the date palm (specifically, the problem of the Red Palm Weevil was addressed). The course touched upon various agricultural methods, practices, and techniques, and included visits to Israel.
  • The Peres Center undertook various workshops for Palestinian members of the agricultural cooperatives, covering the new EUREPGAP and Ecofresh standards for various crops, thereby ensuring successful agricultural marketing in the European industries.
  • In autumn 2003, the Peres Center held a symposium on the subject of bio-energy in Poland, which was attended by distinguished experts from Poland, Canada, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.
  • In May 2003, the Peres Center aided in Date Palm production for Palestinians and Jordanians in the Jordan Valley.
  • In June 2003, the Peres Center conducted training in EUREPGAP export standards and practices for Palestinian farmers.
