"Twinned Peace Theater and Cinema Schools" Program

Project Objective

To engage Palestinian and Israeli high school pupils in a Peace Education program that utilizes the media of theater and film, encouraging cooperation and interaction between the youth of different backgrounds, and fostering peaceful relations.

Within the framework of its multi-faceted Peace Education program, the Peres Center has designed the "Twinned Peace Theater and Cinema Schools" program. Inspired by the success of the "Twinned Peace Sport Schools" program of the Peres Center, which has grown to include thousands of Palestinian and Israeli pupils from disadvantaged communities, the Peres Center designed a similar program that utilizes the notion of matching up Palestinian and Israeli youth in a unilateral and joint program of activities.

The "Twinned Peace Theater and Cinema Schools" program caters to Palestinian and Israeli high school pupils (aged 15 to 18 years) from disadvantaged and peripheral communities. Schools are selected and "twinned" together as partners in the program.

The program is comprised of four components: 1) Introductory Education for the Values of Peace Workshops; 2) Theater or Cinema Workshops; 3) Joint Palestinian-Israeli Meetings; and 4) End of Program Event.
