The Twinned Peace Sports Schools program has reached over 20,000 children and youth, boys and girls, Arabs and Jews, Israelis and Palestinians.

Girls Football

Project Aim

This project aims to empower girls to be involved in physical activity and increase girls’ participation in football, as well as to enable Israeli and Palestinian, Jewish and Arab girls to get to know one another and build friendships through sport.

How It Works

Targeting conservative and underprivileged communities that are typically less receptive to reconciliation and peacebuilding activities, and which are unable to provide children, particularly girls, with high-quality extra-curricular activities. The project allows girls to participate in after school activities twice a week in their own communities, and in monthly joint activities with their counterparts from 'across the border'. These activities include playing football in mixed teams, peace education activities and inter-language learning.

Funded by the USAID, our current girls soccer program includes 12 communities, 240 girls and is comprised of many components, all enhancing the young girls' overall experience:

-Coaches training program - All coaches meet in uni-national and bi-national frameworks, for several hours at a two-day seminar. Through these meetings the coaches gain professional experience and are able to build strong relationships amongst themselves. These relationships serve as an example to the girls when meeting their twin group several times a year.
