2.6 million strawberry bushes planted over 260 dunams in the West Bank and Gaza as part of the 'Strawberries for Peace' profitable crop management project.

Integrated Crop Management

Project Aim

This project engaged countries throughout the Middle East, Mediterranean, and North African regions in the promotion of a shared, comprehensive approach to crop management and pest control, benefiting the agricultural sectors of all countries involved and fostering dialogue, cooperation and peaceful relations.

How It Works

Integrated Crop Management (ICM) is a holistic approach to crop management and pest control in which the grower utilizes all ‘weak points’ of the weeds, pathogens, and pests, as well as all things that are in favor of the desired crop to optimize pollination and the use of pesticides, fertilizers and water in a sustainable way. The program engaged representatives from Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, France and Malta, thereby benefiting agricultural sectors of the Middle East, Mediterranean region and North Africa. The program encompassed elements such as improvement of crop features, production, pest control, post-harvest care, marketing strategies and more, promoting methods that decrease negative environmental impacts.
