Maurice Lévy Named Chairman of the International Board of the Peres Center

MAURICE LÉVY NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE INTERNATIONAL BOARD OF

GOVERNORS OF THE PERES CENTER FOR PEACE IN ISRAEL

“I am touched that I was given the opportunity to lead the International Board of Governors of the Peres Center for Peace, founded by President Peres, for whom I have enormous respect and admiration,” stated Maurice Lévy. “I believe that every person’s dream is to see peace in the Middle East. I view my position as Chairman as a symbolic opportunity to promote this dream. I call upon the world’s leaders to contribute to the creation of durable economic development that will support lasting peace in the Middle East,” he continued.

The Peres Center for Peace, located in Jaffa, Israel, announces the appointment of Maurice Lévy as Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace International Board of Governors (IBoG).

Founded in 1996 by the President of Israel and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate, Mr. Shimon Peres, the Peres Center for Peace is Israel’s leading organization, promoting peace building between Israel and its neighbors.

As a long time supporter of the Peres Center for Peace, Mr. Lévy happily accepted the role of Chairman. In this role he will assist the promotion of the Center’s mission for lasting peace and advancement in the Middle East by fostering tolerance, economic and technological development, cooperation and well being, - in the spirit of President Shimon Peres’ vision.

In addition, as Chairman of the IBoG, Mr. Lévy will assist the Peres Center for Peace in fundraising for its diverse projects, as well as provide specific strategic consulting regarding how to strengthen Israel’s IT sector through the initiation of unique cross-border new media projects.

Members of the IBoG serve both as ambassadors of the Peres Center for Peace around the world, and as key persons involved in promotional and fundraising efforts for the Center. The board consists of distinguished figures from a wide range of disciplines.

“I am touched that I was given the opportunity to lead the International Board of Governors of the Peres Center for Peace, founded by President Peres, for whom I have enormous respect and admiration,” stated Maurice Lévy, Chairman and CEO of Publicis Groupe. “I believe that every person’s dream is to see peace in the Middle East. I view my position as Chairman of the IBoG as a symbolic opportunity to promote this dream. I call upon the world’s leaders to contribute to the creation of durable economic development that will support lasting peace in the Middle East,” he continued.

“The Peres Center for Peace is honored, and could not be happier that Mr. Lévy has accepted the role of Chairman of the board. This will be an amazing opportunity for him to set the tone for the future of all IBoG members and chairpersons. As one of the greatest communications figures in the world, with love and passion for Israel and numerous contributions to peace, he was the perfect choice for this leadership role. Importantly, the Peres Center is also very grateful to Mr. Zev Furst who chaired the IBOG for the past few years and has promoted and assisted the organization on many levels,” said Chemi Peres, the Chairman of the Peres Center for Peace Board of Directors.

The Peres Center for Peace develops and implements a wide range of projects involving thousands of participants annually. Programs in fields such as medicine and healthcare, technology, business, agriculture, the environment, peace education, sport, the arts and more, are designed to empower the populations of this region to be actively engaged in peace building in order to advance the creation of a real, effective and durable peace.
