Startup Weekend

Project Aim

Startup Weekend is a 54 hour startup event that takes place around the world providing networking, resources, and business opportunities by bringing together entrepreneurs to share ideas, form teams, build products and launch startups. The Peres Center facilitated the inclusion of a delegation of 15 Palestinian programmers and entrepreneurs to participate together with 100 Israeli entrepreneurs.

How It Works

Over 100 entrepreneurs gathered at the Peres Peace House to participate in the event, which began with open mic pitches. Individuals and teams were encouraged to bring forward their best ideas and inspire others to join their team. Over the course of the two days, teams coded, designed, researched, developed and created business plans, constantly streamlining their startup vision. On the final night, teams demoed their prototypes and received feedback from a panel of experts. The winning team was an Israeli-Palestinian partnership.

This project was run in cooperation with Mercy Corps
